Once you have a knowledge of all 5 patterns of both major and minor pentatonic, you can apply more advanced pentatonic applications such as combining and overlapping parallel pentatonic scales.

Particularly over dominant 7th chords due to the ambiguous nature of the chord (with a major 3rd and minor 7th), it allows you to alternate between the more playful and majestic major and edgier minor pentatonic sounds.
