Los Folkloristas’ 1981 recording of “La Paguinita (Ti feu)” is a It’s a graceful and melodic piece which includes bilingual lyrics in Zapotec and Spanish. The song is very emblematic of the son istmeño genre and will open the door to other Istmeño waltzes, originating in Oaxaca’s Tehuantepec region.
We’ll be focusing on the two harmonised melodies a 3rd interval apart, which cleverly alternate between the D Natural & Harmonic Minor scales, with a sneaky turnaround from the D Mixolydian Mode.
