Just like basic chord switching sets the stage for more complex progressions, mastering basic alternate picking—especially across strings—builds the foundation for playing advanced lines.

This level focuses on string crossing, starting with the easier outside picking (pivoting on the outer edges of string pairs). You’ll tackle inside picking in Exercise 3, but first we lay the groundwork using the most effective entry method: outside picking.
